Gods Qigong + Bagua: Course Overview

  BOOK BY JULY DEADLINE

Gods Qigong and bagua share a unique goal: to integrate the entire neigong system into one coherent whole. They also share the same modus operandi: to engage and operate the whole body through the six directions (up/down, forward/back and left/right) in a spherical manner.

Both groups will focus on creating spherical motion. Regardless of which group you choose, Paul will present various threads of neigong to build your form and include aspects for developing your mind’s intent. The more neigong in your body when you arrive the deeper you can delve into the energetics that power the form.

Beginners will study:

  • Bending and stretching techniques
  • Biomechanical body alignments
  • Opening and closing the joints
  • Twisting
  • Circularity;
  • Along with breathing methods and energetic flows.

Also, read Paul's article "What Beginners Learn at Live Courses."

Intermediate and advanced practitioners will integrate the above neigong content along with:

  • Opening and closing the cavities
  • Physical mechanics and energetics that underlie spherical motion
  • Generating power from the spine
  • Cultivating strong chi circulation
  • Leading integrated motion from the lower tantien.

Gods Qigong—All Practitioners

Saturday + Sunday

Since Gods Qigong is like the hand that fits inside the bagua glove, both groups will begin with Gods Qigong to learn or review the fundamental structures that underpin the neigong being taught. All the internal aspects found in Gods Qigong power bagua’s external form—without which bagua would be only an empty shell.

Weekend-only Option: You may attend only the weekend, learning a portion of the set. The focus of this two-day course is to open up and integrate the legs, kwa and spine in the specific ways that each movement does, and thereby creating whole-body motion.

Weeklong Intensive: After the Gods Qigong opener, you can either choose to go deeper into internal aspects of Gods Qigong, or the interplay of yin and yang energies in bagua palm changes.

Gods Qigong: Internal Aspects

Monday-Thursday

For those attending the weeklong intensive, you will continue on to learn all six moves of the Gods Qigong exercise system. (If you arrive already knowing the set, Paul will also teach you movement 7.) Then, you will delve deep into the internals, attempting to activate all the major cavities and tie them into the lower tantien. This is the point at which spherical work truly begins to come alive, influencing the deeper chi flows into a constant circulatory stream.

Bagua Single + Double Palm Changes

Monday-Thursday

Bagua’s Single and Double Palm Changes manifest yang and yin energies, respectively. This course will explore the external form and internal content that develop these energies and bring these palm changes alive.

The Single Palm Change produces a strong and hard energy while the Double Palm Change generates a soft, amorphous energy. Together, these energies form the two foundational streams that intertwine in various ways to produce the art form that is bagua zhang—energy trending towards change.

Experienced Single + Double Palm practitioners will learn specific Gods Qigong internals to upgrade and supercharge your bagua practice.

All practitioners will work in the direction of circularity and spherical motion, as an exceptional specialty of bagua.
